First Day of School

Well so far today has gone off without a hitch.  I can't believe that it is already 11:30 and my Chicken Little should be eating her lunch and reading the note I wrote her.  Both of the chickens were up at 7 AM (a very rare thing in this house) They were dressed, breakfasted, and raring to go out the door by quarter after 8 this morning.  We left the house around 8:40 to drive to school. (which is about a 15 min drive until we move)  There was a HUGE line waiting to go into school when we got there for the little ones.  The big Chicken waved good bye to me (I resisted the urge to give her a hug and kiss, I did that at home) and she went in her separate door.  She did ask that I not walk her to her classroom.  After we got Chicken Little settled I left.  (Yes I was the last parent to leave, but only by a few seconds....there was a dad in there that was snapping photos left and right before he left.  I felt odd that I had left my camera on the front seat of the car.  Rest assured I will take it when I pick up the chickens...LOL)  I feel weird not having the chickens around.  It is too quiet in the house.  Hopefully I will get used to the quiet.  I need to do a couple of things around here and then I will sit down and cast on for Branching out.

Last night we went to the house to do a couple of things FHA will want done.  Well over the weekend we got a HUGE storm and everyone's house on the block got about 4" of water in the basement as the storm drains backed up!  The sellers ripped up the carpet and tiles and are now painting the floor for us.  Oh well.  It is nice that they cleaned it up and painted.  Tonight we go back and finish hanging the banisters and doing the electrical.  The chickens are excited as they will get to play with their friends again.  (We were there for 10 minutes and the chickens met nearly everyone on the block!!) The neighbors are all friendly and our new next door neighbor even offered to help dh with work and said he will be there to bring in boxes when we move.  This is AWESOME!!!  Tonight I am bringing my knitting, I know I probably won't get to knit much, but yesterday I got to do none and we were there for 3 hours!!!

Well I want to cast on for Branching out, so I need to get my fanny in motion.  Have a wonderful day!! God Bless!

Fun In the Sun

geez, I couldn't think of any other good titles for this post.  Which will be a quickie.  We are all tired but had a good day at Yogi bear's Jelly stone park with dh's company.  We had our company picnic there.  We got to go on a canoe, play putt putt, swim (the chickens did that I watched and knit), Play sand volleyball, frisbee and eat some good food.  Too bad I didn't take any pictures.  I am just checking my email and checking in here.  I will post pics of the house tomorrow.  Speaking of the house, we get to go tomorrow evening and fix some stuff.  Then the Chickens start School on Tuesday....but that is another post.  Have a wonderful day! God Bless!!

SPAM in my comments....oh no!

I was so excited to update you on my house, and I see all these comments....but sadly 2 of them were spam.  ICK!  Advertising spam no less.  So please if you are reading my blog, I LOVE comments, just not spamming ones.  You don't have to put your url in my comment box as it links to your URL with your name if you put it in the proper slot.

Now that we have had our public service announcement......

The home inspection went great.  The inspector said the house is in great shape for being 85 years old.  I have some pics that I took....okay 30....LOL!  But this morning the girls have their assesment and I don't have time to upload them.  I hope to do that this afternoon.  I must have seen way to many houses when we saw it and was too sick, because there are a couple of things that I remember differently from when we were there.  After dh got there I told him, its different than I remembered but I still like it.  He laughed at me, as if my wife didn't remember your house properly was a way to get out of the contract.

The seller's agent's friend opened the house for us.  she was a retired realtor and she was very annoying.  She was trying to sell me the house that we already have a contract on.  She was also telling me what people didn't like about the house...mainly the kitchen.  As when the measured it, on paper it is a lot bigger than in person. They measured the largest part of the kitchen and the other largest part.  So you think you are getting this HUUUUUUGGGGGEEEE kitchen when it actually isn't.  That's alright, I like the kitchen, it is very open to the rest of the house.  She (the fill in realtor) also told me that they are still showing the house.  I didn't know that you did this. I thought we signed the contracts and all and they took it off the market.  Our realtor gets back tonight from vacation and is coming right over.  We talk to her on a regular basis on the phone, but I forgot to ask her that last night.  I can't wait for the 16th of Sept to come......only 28 more days!

In knitting news....the yarn I dyed yesterday turned out great! I found some fingering weight wool in my stash that some ladies from church had given me.  It was baby colors and so I took my black wiltons and cooked it all day long.  It is a deep purple color.  I am very happy and hope that it will work for either the diamond shawl I am getting or maybe I should do branching out with it from knitty.  I am not too sure yet.  Any suggestions?  I probably should do branching out as it would probably be done by the reunion.....hmmmmm.

Well I need to run. I have to get some stuff together and make sure the chickens are getting ready to go! Have a wonderful day!

Home Inspection is less than 7 hours away

Can you stand it!?!!!?!? I know I can't.  I am sure the day will drag on just as slow as molasses.  I did most everything I needed to do already.  Albeit I am still in my jammies, but everything else is done.  The girls are still sleeping as we went to my mom's last night after church and didn't get home until nearly 10.  I figured I would let them sleep in a bit today since next week they will be getting up bright and early!  Both of the chicknes are excited for school to start.  Although the district we live in now doesn't start until the 30th because of Fair week.  The district we are moving to is the only one in our county that starts during fair week.  I think all the other schools postponed because of 4H and kids living there at the fair all week.  Where we are moving is very much city and I really don't think there are many 4H groups there.  Scouting is big, but I know in my high school we didn't have a FFA, which is why we made fun of the rival high school....LOL!

When I did take my mom to Drug Mart to pick up a couple of things we stopped by the house, I pulled in the drive and was going to let her get a good look at it and drink it all in, when I realized there were cars in the drive....ACK! At first I felt very jealous that someone was in *my* house without me.  But then I realized it was the sellers, their trunks were full of stuff as they were getting the last bit of stuff out of the house....HURRAH!!! The Pending sign still isn't up, but I don't know how long that takes to do.  I think once they have funds verified and all that jazz.

In Knitting news, I did get some more knitted on the blanket yesterday.  My girlfriend's little one (who just turned 3 in May) asked if I would make her baby sister a blanket (her baby sister is due in Oct) I was planning on it, then she shocked me and asked if it could be green, because she is sure that Aubrey loves the color green.  I told her I would see.  This girl is so chatty, she can talk you ear off.  She also has her dad's ability to BS, as her mother so elloquently put it. (I know I spelled that wrong...LOL) When she used our potty when she first arrived we had to go downstairs to use it, because thats where it is.  She asked why we had bedrooms down there, I told her that is where the girls sleep.  She said "Oh, I sleep downstairs"  I told her I knew she shared her room with Mommy and Daddy.  She said "No, downstairs in the basement, My mommy locks me down there and makes me sleep on the floor without a bed" She just kept going on and on.  Her 10 yo brother was shocked and told her that She wants to sleep in the basement but mom won't let her.  It was too funny.  So when her mother arrived I told her what her little Jenna-benna was saying.  I guess her next older brother (8YO) used to tell people that he had to sleep in the bathtub because they couldn't afford a bed! ACK! What are my kids saying about me?!!? Although I know for the longest time my big Chicken told people I was black because of my dark hair.  She thought that if you were black it was because you had black or dark hair......very funny. Anyways....(that really isn't much about knitting is it?)

I did decide to buy a shawl with some paypal money I had.  I got this because I saw it on Yarn Harlots blog and it screamed to me.  I need to get the yarn now.  I wish Knitpicks took Paypal because I don't want to use our money, I want to use this paypal money.  Oh well I will figure something out.  I did find the colorway I want to do it in Lost lake, if you scroll down you will see it.  I need to figure something out as I want to try to do this as soon as I get it and wear it for my reunion....but we shall see!

No cross stitching, beading and fans don't mix.

Well I guess I should run.  Have a wonderful day and God Bless!

One more day and then HOME INSPECTION!!!

And you all thought this was going to be a crafting blog......LOL!  I am sure that I will chat about the house non stop between now and closing.  It still seems so surreal, is this really happening, will I wake up and this all be a really long dream?  I drove past the house yesterday, I want to always drive past it.  Even tho in most cases it is way out of my way.....I feel sort of like a stalker.  Will the neighbors think I am casing the joint?  Hopefully they have all been through this and I am not the only person who has had Waiting to close so I am stalking my house syndrome.  Here are some pics of the inside of the house.  I will be taking my own pics tomorrow and I will probably set up a flickr account or something to show you.  I think since I have the free blog that I can't really put many images in here.  I suppose I could delete the old ones, but I am not sure.

I did go to knit group last night.  (Thanks Jennifer about the congrats on the house, it was so cute how excited she was for us!) She also showed off her latest booga bag which I think she should keep....LOL! It was very fall colors and very her, at least I think so.  I really like your pink booga as well Jen.....I don't know why you don't.  I think that is very you as well :O)  Becky showed off her Chicken Run hat (I am so making one of those) and her baby bootees.  She also is making a new hat which is going to be so cute! I may have to buy one for my nephew.  Boys and Pineapples mix....right?!!?  She also told us about her awesome Converse score as well.  You go Girl!! I think I may try to take the big Chicken to the store and see if we can get a similar deal as she does like the Converse.  (At least she says she does....LOL)

We also came to a decision yesterday about homeschooling the girls.  I won't be doing it anymore.  It isn't that I don't enjoy it, I really do.  But I have prayed about it and talked to dh and I think that sending them to school at this time is the right choice for us.  We will be living by an AWESOME school that is 4 blocks down from us (short blocks) Plus we wanted to live in that neighbrohood because of the school there and we might as well take advantage of it.  So if you pray, please pray this transistions well, as the girls start school on Tuesday!!! YIKES! I will have to drive them back and forth until we move, but I think that is better than them starting at one school and then transferring 3 wks in to another school.

On the knitting front, I did knit on the baby blanket.  I think I may try to make myself a shrug or shawl before the reunion.  Altho I really don't have the yarn for either right now, so I don't know what to do.  All of our money is going towards house stuff, so I don't know if I should try to make something out of what I have or search ebay or what.  UGH! I am sure something will happen if it is meant to be.

Well I should run.  My girlfriend is bringing her kids over as she has a funeral to go to this morning.  Then after that I have a meeting with the leader from last years GS troop as I will be the leader this year.  Have an awesome day!

Be prepared to Kill a small forest......

when you are buying a home.  Sadly our lender says that this is just a small amount of the paperwork we will see until the day we close.  He said on closing Dh gets to sign his name 144 times....ACK!  Should I pack up the Big Chicken and send her on her way, because with 144 signatures I am sure that they will be asking for our 1st born next!

Thanks for all the well wishes.  We are very excited, as this is now seeming to be a reality.  I think for me it became real when the seller's agent refered to it as "your house"  How cool is that!?!!? I mean when the *enemy* (LOL) is telling you its yours then, it has to be!  She also told us that if the house doesn't appraise for what we are getting it she will throw herself in front of a bus....ACK! But not before headbutting the appraiser.  Well I am glad that she is confident in her client's house.  It should all be fine, as we are getting this house waaaaaaay under market value.  The one across the street sold for nearly 20K more than we are buying our house for.

I am looking forward to Knit night tonight.  I missed the past couple of weeks because I wasn't feeling well, or did I just miss one.....I was so sick last week I don't remember.  But I do know that I have NO plans tonight.  Dh will stay home with the Chickens so I can knit on the baby blanket, show off my elfin lace and drink a couple of iced Chais......heaven!

I am also preparing for my 10 year high school reunion.  I am not sure about all of it.  Dh's class had a 5 year and a 10 year.  We were unable to attend the 10 year as it was the same weekend as his brother's wedding I think. We are planning on attending mine.  What do you wear to a 10 year.  Do these people still see each other?  I am just not sure about any of it.  Thankfully my best friend is going so it should all be good.

I want to make myself a shrug or wrap to wear to the reunion, but it is on the 27th....think I can pull that off.  I need to have the baby blanket done by the 10th of Sept for the shower (altho I am not opposed to giving gifts on needles I would just like it done, altho it is going fast and I am not working on anything else) But I will also be sewing curtains for the new house this month as well.  ACK! Somebody just smack me and tell me it will be okay.....LOL!

If you all want to see the inside of the house, holler and I will post pics of the inside as well!  Have a wonderful day and God Bless!!

Feeling a bit better

And I am glad.  I don't know how much more of that cold I would have been able to take.  Things here are so exciting, that maybe my excitment drove the cold out of me.  Gee, we should have bought a house a week ago.....LOL!

I am getting house inspection quotes and things for packing together.  We will be all ready to move on the 16th, or whatever day we get the keys.  I think we have told most everyone about the house, well except for our landlord.  We will be telling her tonight.  Dh wanted to get all the contracts signed and on their way before we told her.  The Chickens are excited.  This house is only about 5 blocks away from my IL's house....which is great! I love my MIL (and no she doesn't read my blog....LOL) So yesterday when we went over for an afternoon visit the Chickens went to inspect the house.  On the way home Chicken Little fell and scraped up her knee, but I think she will survive.

Well I need to go and run some errands this morning so I will leave you!

I am beyond thrilled! I am so happy that God has provided for us:O)  Still in my haze of a cold, searching for houses....and we found one.  Put in an offer and it was accepted!!!!
Here she is.  I hope that the image isn't too big.  It is the house that Dh and I have been looking for the whole time we have been shopping.   Now God willing, we will be moving in the 16th of September.

Well I need to get back upstairs and jump in the shower.  We have a ton of stuff to do today.  God Bless!!!

I just wanted to let you all know that I feel horrible.  Thankfully the chickens are with friends today and I can rest.  Last night dh sent me to bed around 6 and I slept until this morning.  I am going to have some toast get a hot shower and probably go back to bed.  Here's hoping to kicking this bug soon!
